<p class=MsoNormal><font size=3 face="Times New Roman"><span style='font-size:
12.0pt'>Called to order by President Kurt after a particularly delightful array
of piano pieces performed by our own Bruce Williams.</span></font></p>
<p class=MsoNormal><font size=3 face="Times New Roman"><span style='font-size:
12.0pt'>Invocation was given by <st1:PersonName w:st="on">Jimmy Weatherspoon</st1:PersonName>
at which time the power went out (power failure ordained).</span></font></p>
<p class=MsoNormal><font size=3 face="Times New Roman"><span style='font-size:
12.0pt'>Jimmy also led us in “He Has the Whole World in His Hands”
and “Home Home on the Range”.</span></font></p>
<p class=MsoNormal><font size=3 face="Times New Roman"><span style='font-size:
12.0pt'>Two birthdays – Mike Campbell and Mickey Manning.</span></font></p>
<p class=MsoNormal><st1:PersonName w:st="on"><font size=3 face="Times New Roman"><span
style='font-size:12.0pt'>Harvey Brown</span></font></st1:PersonName> had only
one make-up to announce – sorry <st1:City w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">Harvey</st1:place></st1:City>.
But there were a couple of visitors, including John McConnell who has applied
for membership.</p>
<p class=MsoNormal><font size=3 face="Times New Roman"><span style='font-size:
12.0pt'>Fred Bonardi gave the stock report – Dow was down 40 points, but
NASDAQ was up 13%.</span></font></p>
<p class=MsoNormal><font size=3 face="Times New Roman"><span style='font-size:
12.0pt'>Fred also wore the Sergeant-at-arms hat, which was an exception
collection due to Mike and Mickey’s birthday contributions - $192 total
collected.</span></font></p>
<p class=MsoNormal><font size=3 face="Times New Roman"><span style='font-size:
12.0pt'><o:p> </o:p></span></font></p>
<p class=MsoNormal><font size=3 face="Times New Roman"><span style='font-size:
12.0pt'>Kurt Godfrey announced that on November 10<sup>th</sup>, our club will
be doing a Habitat for Humanity house (in <st1:City w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">Boynton
Beach</st1:place></st1:City> according to Mike Campbell).</span></font></p>
<p class=MsoNormal><font size=3 face="Times New Roman"><span style='font-size:
12.0pt'><o:p> </o:p></span></font></p>
<p class=MsoNormal><font size=3 face="Times New Roman"><span style='font-size:
12.0pt'>Dave Armstrong announced the annual Golf Tournament to benefit the
Scholastic Achievement Foundation to be held on October 13<sup>th</sup>.
Players and sponsors needed, as this benefits a local high school.</span></font></p>
<p class=MsoNormal><font size=3 face="Times New Roman"><span style='font-size:
12.0pt'><o:p> </o:p></span></font></p>
<p class=MsoNormal><font size=3 face="Times New Roman"><span style='font-size:
12.0pt'>Guest speaker introduced by <st1:PersonName w:st="on">Bob Teninga</st1:PersonName>
– Mary Leavenworth, Area Director for Boys and Girls Clubs – <st1:City
w:st="on">Wellington</st1:City>, <st1:City w:st="on">Boynton Beach</st1:City>
and <st1:City w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">Delray Beach</st1:place></st1:City>
clubs. She has held this position for 3 years prior to which she was with the
organization in <st1:State w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">Massachusetts</st1:place></st1:State>
where it began in 1960. The <st1:City w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">Delray
Beach</st1:place></st1:City> club, formed in 1971, is one of 13 in the County
serving 7,000 children per year. It only takes children from the area and
membership is only $20/year. As they have a professional staff obviously the
cost is much more than that per child. Many of the children come from low
socio-economic homes with often one parent. They provide a variety of programs
including abstinence (they share space with Planned Parenthood which draws
teens); safe internet, character development, leadership, mock voting, amber
alert, safety and more. They also participate in partnerships with other
agencies that can benefit the children such as <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:PlaceName
w:st="on">Milagro</st1:PlaceName> <st1:PlaceType w:st="on">Center</st1:PlaceType></st1:place>
(for art). Mary invited our members to visit the club, as they are in need of
Board Members. The age range is 6-19 and they are open until 8 pm daily. They
are located at <st1:Street w:st="on"><st1:address w:st="on">1451 SW 7<sup>th</sup>
Street</st1:address></st1:Street> near the <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:PlaceName
w:st="on">Catherine</st1:PlaceName> <st1:PlaceName w:st="on">Strong</st1:PlaceName>
<st1:PlaceType w:st="on">Park</st1:PlaceType></st1:place> and directly across
from the former Carver Estates. She suggested calling her cell first to assure
she is on the property for a visit (561) 512-9714,</span></font></p>

The green hat was in excess of $1,100 and Stormy won again, but did not pull
the ace. Next week we need a winner.</span></font></p>
